Knowledge of the English Language is a determining factor for the educational and professional future of each of our students.

Here are the tools, experiences and methods with which we prepare the students to have a strong understanding of English, to express themselves, and to successfully pass certifications.
At the beginning of the I° year, after having completed an entry test, the English classes are composed of 4 levels of competency so that they can improve their language skills in a more precise and punctual way.
At the end of the second year another test is administered to verify the students’ competency level and give them the chance to pass to a higher level for the next two years.
CLIL, Content and Language Integrated Learning, is the study of a specific subject in a foreign language with teachers who are native speakers.
It has been proven that using the English language as an understanding tool, and not only for language purposes in itself, is a highly efficient method to acquire mastery of the language.
Students take CLIL Geography courses in the first two years and History in the fifth year.
During regular class hours all students are prepared for external English language competency examinations. The school proposes that they take the University of Cambridge English Language Qualifications, specifically:
The FCE is accepted at numerous Italian and British universities.
Additionally, the unique study plan at Liceo Malpighi in Bologna (the only school in Italy to offer this option) prepares IV° year students in the Advanced levels (third and fourth) during class hours to take the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) or CAE – Certificate in Advanced English (C1).

The Excellent Program, sustained by the Fondazione Campari, includes an afternoon course to prepare for the Academic IELTS (C1) and to learn how to apply to international universities. There are also 2 scholarships that completely cover the costs to attend the Summer School at these two prestigious universities.
