Knowledge of the English Language is a determining factor for the educational and professional future of each of our students.

Here are the tools, experiences and methods with which we prepare the students to have a strong understanding of English, to express themselves, and to successfully pass certifications.

At the beginning of the I° year, after having completed an entry test, the English classes are composed of 4 levels of competency so that they can improve their language skills in a more precise and punctual way.
At the end of the second year another test is administered to verify the students’ competency level and give them the chance to pass to a higher level for the next two years.

Nel corso dell’attività curriculare mattutina, tutti i ragazzi vengono preparati per una verifica esterna della competenza linguistica inglese. A loro viene proposto di sostenere gli esami per la Certificazione Linguistica della University of Cambridge, ovvero:

• PET (Preliminary English Test) – proposto in II Liceo
• FCE (First Certificate in English)– proposto in III/IV Liceo

L’FCE costituisce titolo di credito presso molte università italiane e britanniche.

Inoltre il piano di studi (unico in Italia) dei Licei Malpighi di Bologna prevede che, al IV° anno, gli alunni dei livelli Advanced (terzo e quarto) vengano preparati in orario mattutino al conseguimento del SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) oppure il CAE – Certificate in Advanced English.

CLIL, Content and Language Integrated Learning, is the study of a specific subject in a foreign language with teachers who are native speakers.

It has been proven that using the English language as an understanding tool, and not only for language purposes in itself, is a highly efficient method to acquire mastery of the language.

Students take CLIL Geography courses in the first two years and History in the fifth year.

During the IV° year, students have the opportunity to spend a study period at our partner schools in Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Canada, and Australia. Our partner schools are carefully vetted.

Thanks to a strong relationship, in alternating years our high school hosts a class of Australian students and our students attend one or more months of high school at our partner institution in Australia.
